I have a brand new iMac which I had a friend build for me with all the bells and whistles. I bought the “Missing Manual” and read it from cover to cover. I have every software program you could ever want installed on her and a full external back up system is included. I multi-task about 6 hours a day on 3 windows operating systems. Half of the software I use I wrote myself and not compatible with mac. My brain is stuck on windows so here’s the deal. You can pick up a new iMac with about $6,000 worth of software plus a full external back up for $2000. Check with your local mac specialist and get their opinion.
